Website

I used Notepad ++ to write the HTML and CSS for the website. The elements I placed in the websites by using simply HTML coding are:

Research
poster design
Edited video interviews of Dave Amiet and PC Ross
Animation

For the research I added a

tag under the body tag and then pasted the information in and finally closing the tag by putting

For the poster you put

For the edited video interviews I used the Video For Everybody technique. This will allow everyone to view my video even though they are looking at the website through a PC, MAC, or even a mobile device which always internet such as a PSP (Playstation Portable)

For the animation I put

I also added codes to the CSS page to make my website more attractive, such as background colour, font, font size, font colour etc.

This is a page of my finished website

Animation

I chose my anaimation is be based on how games are a bad influence to young drivers. I did this by drawiing the images in Adobe Illustrator CS4, saving them as a symbol and then import to Flash. You do this by opening up Adobe Flash CS4 and click on "File" - "Import" - then find files you want to import. Once all illustrations are inported I used Flash's animation tools to do my animation.

Here is a example of a drawing I did in Illustrator:

Here are somes frames from my finished animation:

Video Interviews

We had a employee from the ESFRS( East Sussex Fire And Rescue Service) called Dave Amiet and a employee from the Sussex Police called PC Ross. They agreed for us to record them using a video camera while they explained the dangers of driving within the young people aged 18-25 and advises how to prevent yourself from being a victim in a car accident.

With the interviews fininshed I edited them. I did this by opening up Adobe Photoshop CS4 and entered a question and using the animation tools (Windows - Animation) I made in fade in and then fade out again. i would repeat this process until I have done all the questions for Dave Amiet anbd PC Ross. Finally exported them out as a .mov file.

Then I opened up a question and from the video interview I cut the part out that responses to the question and and placed it on the end of the question. To do this you need to find the right part in the video you want by usinf the left and right arrows, then copy it(ctrl +c), insert new player (ctrl + n) and then paste it (ctrl +v) and save it in the same folder as the question.

Finally I opened up a question then paste the cutted video at the end of the question. I would repeat this process until all question and answers has been fused together. then copy and and paste all those into one file.

Poster Design

The next task was to create a poster in the software called Adobe Illustrator CS4.

The posters were going to be about our chosen research topics, but the whole class decided it would be better for the posters to be about young people being irresponsible in cars in general.

It will need to be in CMYK colour mode as they will be printed. We had a restriction on the amount of colours we could use, which was 5.

Before we actually started to design the poster, the class had to think of a slogan. The last two ideas that were left was "It's not a game" and "You're dead!". So we thought it would be good to fuse both of them together to make the slogan "It's not a game, you're dead!".

When I was designing the poster I placed the words "It's not a game" at the top of the page, with some images of game consoles around the text. In the middle I placed a image of a wrecked car. At the bottom of the page I placed the words "You're dead!", with an image of a tombstone in between the words "you're" and "dead!". In the footer of the poster , it was required to place the logos of Sussex Downs College, East Sussex Fire Rescue Service, Police Service, Ambulance Service, Sussex Road Safety Partnership and the URL of the website http://drivetime.sussexdowns.ac.uk/

Research

In this task each person in the class was assigned to research two topics about young people being irresponsible in cars. My tasks was "games/films are a bad influence to young drivers" and "driving unsafe cars"

Games/Films influence:

It has been proven by researchers that games have a bad influence on young drivers. "Video games can have a negative impact on young drivers because it increases their complacency and their indulgence in risk-taking behavior”, "In games you race, you crash and it is a matter of pressing the buttons and off you go again. In real life it doesn't work that way, you can be killed."

Studies also show that people that play video games may be more likely to engage in risky driving practices and get into more car accidents than non-gamers.
Researchers questioned over 198 males and females and those who reported playing video games reported more acts of reckless driving and more car accidents. The males especially reported more reckless driving if they were specifically playing driving simulators on their consoles.

"Driving actions in these games often include competitive and reckless driving, speeding and crashing into other cars or pedestrians, or performing risky stunts with the vehicle. In short, most actions in racing games imply a very high risk of having an accident or severe crash in a highly realistic virtual road traffic environment," the researchers wrote.

Such videogames make adolescents think of themselves as invincible and many times the police are left with the responsibility to save P-platers from themselves.

Over 2000 P-platers lost their licences for drink driving, speeding over 45km/h over the limit and other serious offences, while 1674 were caught breaking the speed limit by more than 30km/h due to the bad influence of driving games.
German researchers also said that it is the men who tend to take more risks on the road after racing in video games unlike women.

Many teens claimed that they understood the difference between video and real-life driving. However they admitted it could badly influence other drivers.

The movie The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift is a bad influence for young drivers doing illegal, uncontrolled style of drifting and street racing.

The film Grand Theft Auto is another movie which is a bad influence for young drivers. Two boys copied a scene from the film and then started to fire a assault rifle from a moving car on a motorway, killing Aaron Hamel, 45, and wounding a woman motorist. A passenger riding with Hamel was also injured when his car was forced off the road.

And this could be the result if someone was to drive under the influence of games or films

Unsafe car:

Putting your music too loud will make your car unsafe because how are you suppose to hear something like a car honking at you or an emergency vehicle if you're blasting your music so loud.

Proper tinting can help improve daytime driving visibility by dramatically reducing glare and brightness. Excessive tinting, however, can reduce the visibility of night-time driving to a dangerous level. State laws prohibit tinting on a level that might be considered unsafe

Functional lights:

These lights not only make you to see clearly the road but allow others to see you as well so don’t take risks and make sure your vehicle has fully functional rear lights and headlights.

Worn out tyres:

They give the drive an experience of blow out on the road which is quite dangerous especially if the vehicle is on a fast-moving motorway

Tracking problems:

Lack of tracking makes the tires lose their co-ordination with the steering wheel. It is not good to see your car moving in a direction opposite to your aim.

Obstructed windows:

Several people have so much stuff in their car that they can’t see outside their windows properly which is quite dangerous; you surely would like to see what is heading toward you and the traffic behind you.

Used wipers:

These make life difficult for driver in case of rainstorm, so get new ones as you won’t like to stop your journey and wait for the rain to stop.

Broken windscreen:

A broken windscreen having either cracks or small holes is quite dangerous as it gives an ambiguous and quite distorted picture of the road moreover if you have a speed of 60+ on the motorway, the chances of it shattering. If your windscreen shatters it will fall inwards and would harm you severely.

Broken mirrors:

if you are driving you surely would like to see cars either behind you or beside you but broken mirrors would not let you do so. Install new mirrors to get a clear picture of where exactly you are in the middle of traffic.

Leaky exhaust:

These emit carbon monoxide so are very dangerous for drivers in garages on the road. If it does not get fixed it can kill somebody so be cautious and check the exhaust every now and then to avoid such mishaps.

Drivers:

The last problem is drivers who are so careless that they find it not difficult to start driving when they are drunk, sleep deprived, distracted and irritated. In that way they can’t focus on their driving and thus causes accidents.

Neon lights under your car are very dangerous. Because there are classified as a distraction to other drivers'' and, therefore, deemed unsafe for the road. But the only time you can have them turned on is when the car is parked and not on the road.
